Senegal 2026 Race: Ghana’s Black Sharks Set for Nigeria Showdown

Posted : 07 October 2026

Nigeria’s Sand Eagles will begin their final push for a place at the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations when Ghana’s Black Sharks arrive in the country on Thursday for Saturday’s first-leg qualifier.

The Ghanaian delegation is expected to proceed directly to Kaduna after arrival, ahead of the decisive encounter scheduled for the Murtala Muhammed Square Beach Pitch.

Kick-off is fixed for 4:00 p.m., with both West African rivals expected to battle for an advantage before the return leg.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Moroccan official Dris Lamghaidar as the referee for the match.

Lamghaidar will be assisted by compatriots Azz-Eddine Essalhi and Nabil Elmaliki as referees two and three, respectively.

Omar Kebbeh of The Gambia has been designated reserve assistant referee, while Lesotho’s Khiba Herbert Mohoanyane will serve as match commissioner.

The Sand Eagles have been intensifying preparations in Kaduna as they target a strong first-leg result before travelling for the return fixture.

The qualification tie forms part of Nigeria’s campaign to secure a place at the 2026 Beach Soccer AFCON, with the team needing to negotiate the Ghanaian challenge over two legs.

The Sand Eagles will therefore look to make home advantage count when they face the Black Sharks in Kaduna, with a positive first-leg result set to provide an important boost ahead of the return fixture.
