Scottie Scheffler Uncertain About Season Debut

Posted : 21 January 2025

Scottie Scheffler, the world No. 1 golfer, shared on Monday that he has not yet decided whether he will make his season debut at next week's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The 28-year-old is recovering from surgery on his right hand, which he injured on Christmas Day while preparing homemade ravioli.

Initially expected to miss three to four weeks, Scheffler is still uncertain about the timeline for his return, with a decision expected within the next few days.

Scheffler explained that he wants to ensure his recovery is progressing well before making a comeback, emphasizing that he is excited to return but won't rush the process.

The hand injury, caused by a puncture wound from broken glass, led to surgery to remove the fragments, and although Scheffler hoped to play at the American Express last week, he chose to withdraw to allow for more healing time.

He joked about the challenges of not being able to use his right hand, mentioning that tasks like brushing his teeth with his left hand have highlighted the difficulty of adjusting to the injury.

After a standout year in 2024, which included winning seven PGA Tour events, an Olympic gold medal, and the Masters, Scheffler was named the PGA Tour Player of the Year for a third consecutive time.

As he focuses on his recovery, he remains hopeful about his season debut but is prioritizing a full recovery before returning to competitive play.
