Scottie Scheffler Set to Return at Pebble Beach After Injury Layoff

Posted : 29 January 2025

Scottie Scheffler, the World No. 1 golfer, is set to make his return to the PGA Tour this week at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, after a freak kitchen accident sidelined him for the season’s first events. Just two weeks after his victory at the Hero World Challenge in December, Scheffler suffered a severe cut to the palm of his right hand while preparing Christmas dinner, requiring surgery.

As a result, he missed key events like The Sentry in Hawaii and was unable to make his planned comeback at The American Express earlier this month.

While Scheffler appreciated the extra time at home with his family during his recovery, it wasn’t without its frustrations. He admitted that sitting out of tournaments and watching golf on TV instead of playing was tough. However, he found solace in spending uninterrupted time with his wife and son, which he described as rare, especially for someone with his usual schedule.

Now fully recovered and with his hand feeling good, Scheffler is eager to return to competition, aiming to build on an outstanding 2024 season where he secured victories at The Masters, The Players Championship, an Olympic gold medal, and the FedEx Cup title.

Ahead of his return at Pebble Beach, Scheffler was back to a normal practice routine, working through some residual soreness in his hand. He also had a fun practice round with his caddie, Ted Scott, at Cypress Point, claiming victory and joking about the bragging rights.

Scheffler isn’t worried about his hand injury affecting his performance and is excited to play at Pebble Beach, where he previously finished tied for sixth at last year’s Pro-Am. Despite the delayed start to his season, Scheffler feels well-rested and ready to go, aiming for a strong performance as he sets his sights on a third straight win.
