World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns will lead the United States into Thursday’s opening four-ball session of the 2026 Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club. They will face International pair Sungjae Im of South Korea and Australia’s Min Woo Lee in the first match.
The opening contest is scheduled for 12:35 p.m. ET, with five four-ball matches taking place during the first session. U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker and International captain Geoff Ogilvy selected their pairings ahead of the start of the competition in suburban Chicago.
Scheffler arrives at Medinah after another outstanding season, while Burns will join him after finishing runner-up at the U.S. Open. The two Americans are familiar with one another and will be looking to establish an early advantage against Im and Lee.
The second match features Cameron Young and Xander Schauffele for the United States against Japan's Hideki Matsuyama and Presidents Cup debutant Ryo Hisatsune. The match is scheduled for 12:53 p.m. ET.
Justin Thomas and 21-year-old rookie Jackson Koivun will take on Canada’s Corey Conners and Colombia’s Nico Echavarria in the third match. Snedeker has paired Thomas with Koivun as the young American makes his first appearance in the competition. The match begins at 1:11 p.m. ET.
The fourth contest will see Wyndham Clark and Collin Morikawa represent the United States against New Zealand’s Ryan Fox and Australian veteran Adam Scott. Their match is scheduled to begin at 1:29 p.m. ET.
The opening session will conclude with Chris Gotterup and Patrick Cantlay facing South Korea’s Tom Kim and Kim Si-woo at 1:47 p.m. ET. The full Thursday lineup gives both captains an opportunity to assess their combinations before the competition moves into foursomes on Friday.
The United States has historically dominated the Presidents Cup, winning 13 of the previous 15 editions. The International team’s only victory came in 1998, while the 2003 contest ended in a tie.
The 2026 competition will feature 30 points in total. Thursday begins with five four-ball matches, followed by five foursomes contests on Friday, eight matches across two sessions on Saturday and 12 singles matches on Sunday. A team needs 15.5 points to win, while a 15-15 score results in the teams sharing the trophy.
