World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler produced a commanding performance at the St Jude Championship on Sunday, cruising to an eight-stroke victory and ending his wait for a PGA Tour title. The American closed with a four-under-par 66 to finish the tournament at 17 under par, securing his 21st career PGA Tour triumph.
Scheffler began the final round with a two-shot advantage but encountered an early setback at the third hole. His bunker escape struck a sprinkler head before bouncing into the water, leaving him with a bogey.
The setback did little to disrupt his momentum. Scheffler responded with a birdie at the fifth before adding further gains at the sixth, 11th and 13th holes. Another birdie at the 16th completed a superb closing stretch and ensured the chasing pack had no realistic opportunity of catching him.
South Korea's Kim Si-woo finished as the nearest challenger after carding a two-under 68. His nine-under total left him eight shots behind Scheffler, who produced one of the most dominant winning margins seen at TPC Southwind.
Scheffler's victory was particularly significant after a lengthy spell without a trophy. His previous PGA Tour success came in January, although he remained highly competitive during the intervening months with several runner-up finishes and other top-four results.
The four-time major champion said his consistency throughout the season had given him confidence, but acknowledged that strong statistics were no substitute for actually winning tournaments. His St Jude triumph represented his second PGA Tour victory of 2026 and earned him 750 FedExCup points and $3.6 million.
Sam Burns, who started the final round tied for second with Kim and played alongside Scheffler, struggled to keep pace. A double bogey at the third and another dropped shot at the fifth contributed to a three-over 73, leaving him tied for third with Sweden's Alex Noren.
Sungjae Im also finished tied for fifth after a four-over 74. Despite the disappointing final round, the result was enough to lift him into the top 50 of the FedExCup standings and secure his place in the BMW Championship.
Scheffler now moves forward in the FedExCup playoffs with renewed momentum. His emphatic victory in Memphis underlined why he remains the leading contender as the postseason continues toward the season-ending Tour Championship.
