Ryder Cup Stars Headline Procore Championship at Silverado Resort

Posted : 11 September 2025

The Procore Championship, which marks the beginning of the FedEx Cup Fall series, has taken on added Ryder Cup significance this week at Silverado Resort in Napa, California. Ten U.S. Ryder Cup team members are competing in the tournament, which begins Thursday, as attention turns to the September 26-28 showdown against Team Europe at Bethpage Black.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will make his Procore debut, joining every American Ryder Cup player except Xander Schauffele and Bryson DeChambeau. Schauffele opted out following the birth of his first child, while DeChambeau is currently committed to LIV Golf.

U.S. captain Keegan Bradley, who is not playing in the event, is using the week to finalize pairings and prepare his squad. “It’s really fun for me to be the captain in front of the guys and not be playing… Now I have one job, and that’s to prepare them and do whatever they need this week to play better,” Bradley said.

Many of the American team had several weeks off since the 2023 FedEx Cup Playoffs, where Team Europe defeated them 16½-11½ in Rome. Bradley emphasized the importance of tuning up in Napa, noting the players’ dedication to being ready for the Ryder Cup.

The American Ryder Cup competitors at Procore this week, in addition to Scheffler, include J.J. Spaun, Russell Henley, Harris English, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Ben Griffin, Cameron Young, Patrick Cantlay, and Sam Burns. Scheffler will tee off in a threesome with Spaun and Henley, while Morikawa and English, Thomas, Griffin, and Young, as well as Cantlay and Burns, have been grouped strategically.

Scheffler reflected on his preparation for the last Ryder Cup: “Going into the last Ryder Cup, my prep work may not have been as good as it should have been… That was a learning experience for me.”

While Ryder Cup storylines dominate, the Procore Championship also carries implications for FedEx Cup standings. Players ranked 51-60 secure spots in signature 2026 events, the top 100 retain PGA Tour cards, and those outside the top 125 risk losing status. Two-time champion Max Homa, ranked 111th, and Patton Kizzire, who earned a two-year exemption after last year’s Procore victory, are among those fighting for position in the fall series.
