Ronnie O’Sullivan is set to make his debut in the World Seniors Snooker Championship, which will take place at Sheffield’s iconic Crucible Theatre in May.
The tournament is scheduled to begin on 6 May, just two days after the conclusion of the main World Championship, where the 50-year-old will be pursuing a record-breaking eighth world title.
Recent rule changes for the seniors event now allow players aged 45 and over who are ranked in the world’s top 64 to compete. Despite skipping several tournaments this season, O’Sullivan, who last won the world title in 2022, currently sits 11th in the world rankings.
The tournament will also feature four-time seniors champion Jimmy White, the most successful player in the event’s history.
Other notable participants include 1997 World Champion Ken Doherty, 2015 winner Stuart Bingham, 12-time Women’s World Champion Reanne Evans, and current British Seniors Open champion Joe Perry, promising a competitive field.
