Punjab Kings Smash Records with Historic 265 Chase Against Delhi Capitals

Punjab Kings produced a remarkable performance to defeat Delhi Capitals in a record-breaking match in the Indian Premier League, successfully chasing down a massive target of 265. The victory marked the highest successful run chase in T20 history, with Punjab reaching 265 for 4 in just 18.5 overs to win by six wickets.

Despite the loss, KL Rahul delivered a sensational unbeaten 152, guiding Delhi to a formidable 264 for 2. His innings, supported by Nitish Rana’s 91, became one of the highest individual scores in IPL history and the best ever by an Indian in the competition.

Punjab’s response was aggressive from the outset, with openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya setting the tone through a rapid opening stand. Their explosive start put immediate pressure on Delhi’s bowlers and ensured the chase remained on track despite the daunting target.

Captain Shreyas Iyer then anchored the innings with a composed unbeaten knock, taking advantage of dropped chances and maintaining momentum as Punjab closed in on victory. The team’s relentless batting display made what seemed an unassailable total look achievable.

The match was briefly halted due to a serious injury to Lungi Ngidi, who fell awkwardly while attempting a catch and was taken off the field in an ambulance. Officials later confirmed he was in stable condition after receiving medical attention.

Delhi’s defeat highlighted costly fielding errors and missed opportunities, with captain Axar Patel acknowledging that lapses in key moments proved decisive. Meanwhile, Punjab’s historic chase reinforced their dominance in the tournament, keeping them at the top of the standings in a thrilling IPL season.
