Posted : 02 October 2026

Plateau Vipers produced the standout performance on Day Four of the 2026 North-Central Division One Handball League, overpowering Confluence Stars 40–23 at the Indoor Sports Hall, Package B, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

The Jos-based side established its dominance from the opening exchanges, combining pace, strength and attacking efficiency to take a commanding 21–11 lead into the break.

Plateau Vipers maintained the pressure after the restart as Confluence Stars struggled to cope with their sustained attacking moves, eventually completing a 17-goal victory.

Benue Queens also recorded an impressive win, defeating Inikpi Babes of Kogi State 26–17 in the opening game of the day.

The Queens held an 11–8 advantage at halftime before producing a stronger second-half performance to pull clear of their Kogi opponents.

The encounter between Nasarawa Ambassadors and Suleja Shooters provided one of the day’s most exciting contests, with both teams refusing to surrender despite sustained pressure from either side.

Engineer A.A. Sule’s Suleja Shooters went into halftime leading 16–13, but Nasarawa Ambassadors fought back strongly after the interval.

The teams traded attacking moves and defensive interventions throughout the second half, with neither able to establish the decisive advantage required to claim victory as the match ended 31–31.

Nuella Handball Academy Male completed the day’s programme with a hard-fought 34–31 victory over Unity Boys of Abuja.

Nuella Academy led 18–15 at halftime and managed to withstand Unity Boys’ attempts to turn the contest around, holding on for a three-goal victory.

President of the Handball Federation of Nigeria, Mr Jibril Ojih Saidu, who watched the matches, expressed satisfaction with the growing interest in handball among young players in the North-Central zone.

Ojih Saidu said the quality and enthusiasm displayed by the emerging players demonstrated the growing popularity of the sport among youths in the region.
