Paul Boshoff secured a commanding eight-shot victory in the eighth Betway Big Easy Tour tournament at Waterkloof Golf Club, marking his second consecutive win in as many weeks. His final round of 63, which featured three eagles, five birdies, and two bogeys, brought his total for the week to an impressive 21-under-par. This performance propelled him well ahead of Xander Basson, who had led the tournament since Tuesday.
Reflecting on his remarkable round, Boshoff expressed surprise at his ability to shoot a 63. "I didn’t really have a number today, but at the beginning of the week, I sort of had 20-under in my head as a goal," he said. "There are a lot of birdies here to be made." He credited his success to a solid process and approach, focusing on playing 18 good holes without worrying too much about the outcome.
Boshoff began the final round two shots behind Basson, but his strong performance soon allowed him to overtake the leader. His victory not only secured his second win of the season but also made history as the first player to win back-to-back titles since the Tour’s return under the Sunshine Tour banner. "It’s so hard to explain that my game has been good for so long," Boshoff remarked, noting that his win the previous week had given him the confidence to repeat the performance.
This victory also had significant implications for the Order of Merit standings, where Boshoff moved from third place to the top, positioning himself well for a shot at earning Sunshine Tour playing privileges. With just four events left in the season, Boshoff is focused on maintaining his strong form.
While Basson may feel disappointed with his second-place finishes in consecutive weeks, his consistency has pushed him to second in the Order of Merit, putting him in contention for a spot on the Sunshine Tour for the 2025/26 season.
