Posted : 03 December 2025

Team Nigeria has emerged as champions of the Para Volleyball event at the inaugural West Africa Zone A & B Para Games, following a dominant 3-0 victory over Ghana in the final.

The Nigerian squad began their campaign with a strong performance against Niger Republic, securing a 3-0 win with set scores of 25-13, 25-20, and 25-22. This initial triumph set the stage for their eventual gold medal finish.

In the final against Ghana, Nigeria showcased their experience and cohesion. The team raced to a convincing 25-10 win in the first set, followed by a commanding 25-6 victory in the second. They closed out the match with a 25-16 win in the third set, claiming back-to-back wins and the championship title.

Speaking after the final, President of the Paravolley Federation of Nigeria, Kayode Ladele, expressed pride in the team’s accomplishment, highlighting the federation’s commitment to developing para volleyball in the country.

“It is a remarkable achievement. We have been investing in the growth of paravolley in Nigeria, and now the results are evident. Victory speaks for itself,” Ladele said.

Technical Director and Head Coach Priscilla Agara also praised the support from the federation, noting that regular exposure to international competitions, including the 2024 Paralympic Games qualifiers and the 2024 Paravolleyball Club Championship, has been key to the team’s success.

“This victory is significant for Nigeria and cements our leadership in the West African sub-region. We are thankful to God and proud of our players for bringing home the gold,” Agara added.
