The 2025/26 Club Cricket Committee (CCC) Lagos League season concluded with Government College Ibadan (GCI) Old Boys Association Cricket Club emerging as the new Premier League champions. GCI successfully dethroned the defending champions, Rising Stars Cricket Club, during the final matches held on Sunday. The victory marks a significant shift in the division's power balance following a highly competitive season.
Individual accolades dominated the post-season discussions as several national team figures were recognised for their excellence. Former Yellow Greens star Leke Oyede, representing Ibeju Lekki Cricket Club, secured both the Most Valuable Player and Best Bowler awards in the 40-over tournament. Current national team captain Sylvestre Okpe also enjoyed success, winning the Premier League MVP and Best Batter titles for GCI.
The Women’s League saw a dominant display from Eboka Teniola of Warriors Cricket Club. Teniola swept the major categories by winning the MVP, Best Bowler, and Best Batter awards for her outstanding contributions throughout the campaign. Temitope Onikoyi of Pathfinders Cricket Club was also honoured as the Best Fielder in the women's division.
In the lower divisions, Government College Ughelli Cricket Club claimed the Division One title after a consistent run of form. Vikas Choubey of Thunderbolt Cricket Club was named the Most Valuable Player for the Division One category. Meanwhile, Island Titans Cricket Club celebrated success as the 40-over tournament champions, and Ikorodu Queens Cricket Club took home the women's league trophy.
Stakeholders and sponsors expressed high levels of satisfaction with the organisational growth of the competition. Sterling Bank’s Chief Marketing Officer, Donatus Okpako, confirmed the bank’s intention to continue its partnership with the league. Nigeria Cricket Federation President, Uyi Akpata, alongside state officials, praised the CCC leadership for their dedication to improving the sport’s local standards.
CCC League Chairman Endurance Ofem thanked the participating clubs and sponsors for their support. He noted that the collective effort of the cricket community was the primary driver behind the successful season. Ofem promised further improvements for the upcoming year to ensure the league remains a top platform for Nigerian cricket talent.
