No fewer than 250 golfers are expected to compete at the Ibadan Golf Club (IGC) one-day captain’s golf tournament.
The competition, tagged “Alabama Bows Out,” is scheduled to hold on Feb. 14 in honour of its outgoing captain, Seyi Alaba.
The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Titilola Sodo, described the tournament as one that promises to be memorable and befitting of the outgoing captain’s achievements.
He also said that the tournament was designed to celebrate a captain who had given his all to the IGC.
According to him, Alaba has recorded tremendous accomplishments during his two-year tenure as captain of the IGC, contributing significantly to the growth and stability of the club.
“The tournament is expected to attract golfers, club members, and dignitaries from across the country, making it one of the most significant golfing events on the IGC calendar.
“Our motto for this year’s Captain’s Day Tournament is ‘Swing of Gratitude, Driving Excellence,’ which reflects our appreciation of Captain Alaba’s leadership and service.”
“Alaba’s tenure has been marked by progress, unity, and remarkable achievements, and we are proud to honour him in this grand style.
“The level of interest has been overwhelming, with over 250 golfers already indicating their readiness to participate.
“This shows the respect and goodwill Alaba enjoys within the golfing community.”
