NVF President, Nimrod, honoured in Kaduna

Posted : 08 January 2025

Following his track record in grassroots sports development across the state and Nigeria, the Kaduna State Volleyball Association (KADSVA) has presented an Award of Excellence to the President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Musa Nimrod, who is also the KADSVA Chairman, during a ceremony that attracted several dignitaries.

The association stated that Nimrod's exceptional contributions to the development and growth of volleyball in Kaduna State and Nigeria, in general, are unprecedented and cannot be ignored.

Speaking during the award ceremony held at the Media Center, Ahmadu Bello Stadium (ABS), Kaduna, the Chairman of the Committee in Honor of Musa Nimrod, Lt. Col. J.G. Usman, lauded the honoree for his unwavering dedication to the sport, describing him as a man whose "soul, spirit, and body are nothing but volleyball."

Usman emphasized the tireless efforts and visionary leadership of Nimrod, which have propelled volleyball to unprecedented heights in Nigeria. He noted that the Nigeria Volleyball Federation has seen remarkable growth under his stewardship, with national teams achieving success in various international competitions.

“I feel deeply honored to chair a committee tasked with celebrating a man whose commitment to volleyball is unmatched," Lt. Col. Usman said.

"Engr. Nimrod is a visionary leader, a patriot, and a bridge builder who has been the backbone of volleyball history in Nigeria.

"His dedication, passion, and vision have elevated the game both nationally and globally.

"His irreplaceable influence and mentoring skills can never be overstated. Sir, in our hearts, your name is written in gold.

"The Volleyball Community in Kaduna State has demonstrated unwavering trust and confidence in your leadership, which has been instrumental in the sport’s growth and development," he said.

In his remarks, Engr. Musa Nimrod expressed surprise and gratitude for the recognition.

Speaking with journalists after the event, he revealed that he had tried to maintain a low profile to avoid too much publicity but was overwhelmed by the honor.

"I am truly humbled by this gesture," he said. "I applaud everyone working behind the scenes to ensure the progress of volleyball in Nigeria.

"Integrity is the key, and I urge players and stakeholders in the sector to embrace it. While money can buy many things, it cannot buy integrity."

Nimrod assured attendees of continued support and intervention in upcoming volleyball competitions, pledging to sustain the sport's growth at all levels.

Nimrod promised to continue the scholarship he provides to athletes, which has assisted several of them in pursuing academic endeavors.

Some of the notable dignitaries at the venue of the award ceremony included Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) President, Isaiah Kemje Benjamin, Kaduna State Commissioner for Sports Development, Professor Ben Gugong, Director of Sports Kaduna State, Mrs. Mary Vayin, top coaches, athletes, referees, and a host of others.
