The Nigeria Volleyball Federation has officially released the timetable for the first phase of the 2026 National Division One and Two Leagues. This upcoming championship is designed for both male and female categories across the two divisions. The event is scheduled to take place at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
The federation confirmed that the competition window will run from May 23 to June 7, 2026. This phase serves as a vital part of the federation's 2026 roadmap to strengthen the local volleyball structure. It will bring together professional clubs, military formations, and various sports institutions from every part of Nigeria.
According to the official programme, all participating teams must arrive in the Federal Capital Territory by May 23. A mandatory technical meeting for coaches and officials will follow on May 24 to review tournament regulations. Matches are expected to begin immediately after the conclusion of this technical briefing.
Musa Nimrod, the President of the NVBF, emphasized that the league is a strategic pathway for growth. He noted that the board remains committed to discovering new talent and enhancing elite performance standards. The federation aims to use this platform to prepare athletes for future continental and international assignments.
The NVBF League Management Committee approved the schedule as part of its broader developmental goals. The federation also expressed gratitude to government agencies and private stakeholders for their continued support. This backing is considered essential for maintaining the competitive quality of the domestic game.
The tournament is not only a search for talent but also a move to promote national unity through sports. The second phase of the league will be announced later in the year after the Abuja event. Fans can expect a high level of intensity as teams battle for promotion and ranking points.
