The Nigeria Volleyball Federation has officially announced a 20-player squad to begin training preparations for the upcoming 2026 CAVB Africa Nations Cup Qualifiers. The highly anticipated regional qualification tournament is scheduled to take place in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, from July 13 to July 23, 2026.
The federation unveiled the star-studded roster immediately following the successful conclusion of the first phase of the 2026 National Premier Volleyball League. Technical scouts selected a strategic mix of standout home-based talents and experienced overseas professionals to execute the crucial qualification campaign.
The final roster features top talent across multiple positions, including elite setters Bruno Ibeh, Adeniyi Favour, and Elisha Anebi. The outside hitters include Abdulquadri, Palmer, Obayemi, Oforah, Udah, and Chukwuemeka; while Mathias, Dhikirullahi, Udoka, and Kingsley will handle opposite duties.
Defensive operations will be anchored by middle blockers Timothy, Ozokoye, Jibril, Ferdinand, and Mutiu; alongside liberos Hassan, Ismail, and Precious. Head Coach Oladipupo Taiwo Gabriel will lead the technical crew; assisted by veteran coaches Tswevini Yohanna and Jonah Adamu.
Chairman of the NVBF Technical Committee, Prince Tunde Omisore, expressed absolute confidence in the team's ability to secure a continental ticket. He praised the impressive standard displayed during the domestic league phase; noting it provided an ideal scouting platform.
Omisore also commended NVBF President, Engineer Musa Nimrod, for creating an enabling environment for a transparent selection process. The invited national team players will camp at a secure facility in Abuja; with daily training sessions taking place at Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.
