NSC Sets Up Election Petitions and Appeals Committees for Sports Federations

The Nigeria Sports Commission (NSC) has officially inaugurated the Election Petitions Committee and Election Appeals Committee, underscoring its commitment to transparency, fairness, and integrity in the forthcoming sports federation elections.

In alignment with global best practices, the NSC appointed seasoned legal professionals, administrators, and media practitioners with proven integrity to oversee electoral complaints and appeals processes.

Members of the Election Petitions Committee:

  • Barrister Denen Ikyaa (Chairman): A respected legal expert and member of the FIA Ethics Committee, former NFF Appeals Committee member.
  • Barrister Chike Onyeacho (Member): A legal practitioner with expertise in electoral jurisprudence.
  • Mr. Paul Esheyigba (Member): An experienced administrator with a background in legal compliance.
  • Miss Linda Akalugwa (Member/Secretary): A dedicated legal professional ensuring procedural fairness and administrative precision.
  • Mr. Niyi Alabi Alebiosu (Member): Sports Editor at Nigerian, bringing media insight and governance understanding

Members of the Election Appeals Committee:

  • A.U. Mustapha, SAN (Chairman): Renowned legal expert, former CAF Appeals Committee Chair, and past NFF Electoral Committee Chair.
  • Barrister Chris Umar, SAN (Member): Former Kaduna State Solicitor-General.
  • Barrister Owoicho Adejo-Ogiri (Member): International sports law expert, FIA Tribunal and Court of Appeal judge, and former NFF Disciplinary Committee member.
  • Mrs. Prisca Ngozi Udoka, SAN (Member): Accomplished lawyer, Harvard-trained mediator, and legal adviser to major financial institutions.
  • Mr. Lateef Olatunji Surakatu (Secretary): Chartered accountant and advisory expert at Andersen Nigeria.

The NSC affirmed that entrusting these processes to individuals of high ethical standards and expertise will enhance the credibility of Nigeria’s sports electoral system and build public confidence in sports administration.
