The National Sports Commission (NSC) has fixed October 27 to 30, 2026, for its initial Joint Technical Meeting and venue inspection ahead of the 23rd National Sports Festival. Tagged the Coal City Games Enugu 2026, the four-day exercise aims to evaluate facility readiness and verify technical requirements across all designated competition venues.
Led by NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Director-General Hon. Bukola Olopade, the commission continues to coordinate with key partners to ensure smooth execution. Delegates are expected to arrive in Enugu on Tuesday, October 27. Full facility tours will take place on Wednesday and Thursday alongside technical sessions before participants depart on Friday.
Expected attendees include members of the Main Organising Committee (MOC), sports federation secretaries, technical directors, zonal coordinators, state sports directors, and press representatives. The collaborative meeting offers administrators a direct framework to resolve technical bottlenecks and inspect infrastructure constructed by Governor Peter Mbah's administration.
The National Sports Festival remains Nigeria's premier grassroots talent discovery event, uniting athletes from 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Through proactive site visits and joint planning, the commission aims to maintain rigorous operational standards prior to the festival's official kickoff.
