The National Sports Commission (NSC) will conduct its first Joint Technical Meeting and inspection of facilities for the 23rd National Sports Festival, tagged Coal City Games Enugu 2026, from October 27 to 30.
The exercise is aimed at evaluating the readiness of proposed venues, resolving technical issues, and strengthening coordination among stakeholders ahead of the national sporting event.
According to the schedule released by the Office of the NSC's Director-General, participants will arrive on Tuesday, October 27, ahead of the inspection of venues and facilities on Wednesday, October 28.
The inspection will continue alongside the Joint Technical Meeting on Thursday, October 29, while participants are expected to depart on Friday, October 30.
Expected attendees include members of the Main Organising Committee, secretaries and technical directors of National Sports Federations, zonal coordinators, state directors of sports, and media representatives.
The meeting will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to review technical arrangements, identify potential challenges, and assess the infrastructure required to host athletes and officials from across the country.
The exercise also forms part of broader preparations by the NSC, under the leadership of Chairman Shehu Dikko and Director-General Bukola Olopade, to ensure effective coordination between the commission, the host state, and participating sports bodies.
The Coal City Games Enugu 2026 will bring together athletes from across Nigeria to compete in various sporting disciplines. The technical meeting and facility inspection are expected to help address logistical and operational concerns before the festival begins.
