NSC launches venue inspection ahead of maiden National Intermediate Games

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has commenced a comprehensive inspection exercise in Lagos as preparations gather momentum for the maiden edition of the National Intermediate Games.

The three-day programme, scheduled to run from June 2 to June 4, will see officials of the Commission and members of the Main Organising Committee (MOC) assess key facilities designated for the competition, with a focus on ensuring the successful delivery of the landmark event.

The inspection tour follows sustained collaboration between the NSC and the Lagos State Sports Commission and is designed to evaluate the readiness of venues and supporting infrastructure ahead of the Games.

During the exercise, the delegation will visit competition venues, athlete accommodation centres, ancillary facilities, and other critical infrastructure earmarked for the championship.

The officials will also hold strategic meetings with members of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) and relevant stakeholders to review technical, logistical, and administrative arrangements.

Key areas expected to receive attention during the consultations include venue preparedness, athlete welfare, security, transportation, medical services, and overall operational standards.

As part of the programme, the delegation is also scheduled to pay a courtesy visit to the Governor of Lagos State, highlighting the strong partnership between the National Sports Commission and the Lagos State Government in hosting the inaugural Games.

The National Intermediate Games are expected to provide a vital platform for discovering and nurturing emerging talents while strengthening grassroots sports development across Nigeria.
