Yuna Nishimura Claims First LPGA Title at NW Arkansas Championship

Yuna Nishimura secured her first LPGA Tour title on Sunday, completing a wire-to-wire victory at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship with a final-round 5-under-par 66 at Pinnacle Country Club.

The 26-year-old Japanese golfer entered the final round with a five-shot advantage after consecutive rounds of 63. She maintained her composure despite pressure from the chasing pack and finished at 21-under-par 192, five strokes clear of the three players tied for second.

Nishimura made five birdies and two bogeys in the final round before producing the decisive moment at the par-5 14th. She reached the green with a fairway wood and made eagle to pull further clear, before adding two more birdies on the closing stretch.

The victory marked Nishimura’s first LPGA Tour title since joining the circuit in 2023. She had previously won six times on the Japan LPGA Tour but entered the tournament having missed the cut in five of her previous six starts.

Nishimura said the victory was unexpected after a difficult season but described it as a dream come true. She also credited her ability to remain aggressive when the chasing players began to close the gap.

Her victory made her the third first-time LPGA winner of 2026 and the 24th different Japanese player to win on the LPGA Tour. She is also the third Japanese golfer to win the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, following Ai Miyazato and Nasa Hataoka.

Japan’s Aki Iwai produced the lowest final round among the leading contenders, firing a bogey-free 9-under 62 featuring five consecutive birdies. She finished tied for second at 16-under 197 alongside Thailand’s Chanettee Wannasaen and South Korea’s In Gee Chun.

Wannasaen carded a 7-under 64, while Chun closed with a 6-under 65 to join Iwai in second place.
