“We are delighted to announce the inauguration of the incoming Executive Committee, under the able leadership of our newly elected President, Odozor.
“This transition marks a new chapter in the growth and development of baseball and softball in Nigeria,” the statement read.
In response, Uche promised to promote grassroots development and expand baseball and softball programs across schools, communities, and regions, with a special focus on the Little League initiative.
“I hereby call on stakeholders, including government agencies, sponsors, sports enthusiasts, and the general public, to join us in our mission to elevate baseball and softball in Nigeria.
“Together, we can inspire a new generation of athletes and make Nigeria a recognized force in the global sporting arena,” he said.
NBSA further stated that the new leadership has pledged its commitment to advancing the vision and mission of the federation while upholding the principles of inclusivity, excellence, and integrity.
The federation also described Uche as a pioneer in the Nigerian Baseball and Softball Federation.
“Uche brings a unique blend of sporting excellence, professional experience, and entrepreneurial acumen to his role as President of the NBSA.
“Uche was among the early players who helped establish baseball in Nigeria.
“He played for the prestigious Randburg Mets Baseball Club in Johannesburg, South Africa, as well as for the Stallions of Lagos, and currently represents an Abuja-based baseball club.
“He represented Nigeria at the youth level, showcasing his skills on the international stage. He is an ex-banker with a successful career in the financial sector and has since transitioned into entrepreneurship, establishing business interests,” the statement concluded.
