Nigeria Unveils Squad for 2026 African Men’s Volleyball Nations Championship

Nigeria’s senior men’s volleyball team will head to Tunisia with a balanced 14-man squad as Head Coach Ryan Masajedi targets a strong showing at the 2026 African Men’s Volleyball Nations Championship.

The continental championship, scheduled for September 13 to 27 in Tunis, will provide Nigeria with another opportunity to strengthen its position on the African volleyball scene while pursuing a pathway towards qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Masajedi has opted for a squad comprising two setters, two opposites, four outside hitters, four middle blockers and two liberos, with two new players earning places in the team.

Captain Abdulquadri Jaiyeola will lead the outside hitters alongside Ogunshina Obayemi, Emmanuel Udah and Faruk Lucky.

The middle-blocking department features Anele Timothy, Pascal Ozokoye, Kaseem Mutiu and Army Ferdinand, while Abednego Hassan and Tiamiyu Ismail have been selected as the two liberos.

Bruno Ibeh and Adeniyi Favour will handle the setting duties, with Armstrong Udoka and Okonkwo Ebuka providing options in the opposite position.

The squad will be supported by a coaching team led by Masajedi, with Taiwo Oladipupo serving as first assistant coach and Jonah Adamu as second assistant.

With the championship doubling as an important qualification pathway for the 2028 Olympic Games, Nigeria will be aiming to translate its squad depth and experience into a competitive campaign in Tunis.
