Nigeria and Uganda have qualified for the 2027 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Regional Final following impressive performances at the Africa Sub-Regional Qualifier C in Abuja.
The two teams secured the tournament’s available qualification spots ahead of Sunday’s concluding fixtures, setting up a final-day clash between the competition’s leading sides.
Nigeria’s YellowGreens have enjoyed an outstanding run on home soil, winning all four of their matches to strengthen their hopes of returning to cricket’s global showpiece.
The hosts began their campaign with a commanding 160-run victory over The Gambia, scoring 262 for one before bowling out their opponents for 102.
They followed that performance with a nine-wicket victory over Zambia, a seven-wicket win against Mozambique and another seven-wicket triumph over Lesotho.
These results established Nigeria as one of the tournament’s strongest contenders, with consistent batting and effective bowling proving decisive throughout their campaign.
Uganda have also demonstrated their strength, opening with an 87-run victory over Zambia before defeating Lesotho by five wickets.
The Cricket Cranes followed those results with emphatic 10-wicket victories over The Gambia and Mozambique to confirm their qualification for the next stage.
Nigeria will face Uganda at NCF Oval 1 in Abuja on Sunday, October 25, in a clash between the two teams that have secured qualification.
The YellowGreens will aim to preserve their unbeaten record and round off their home campaign with another victory, while Uganda will look to finish strongly against their fellow qualifiers.
Elsewhere, The Gambia will meet Lesotho, while Mozambique will take on Zambia as the six-team tournament concludes its round-robin phase.
The top two teams will advance to the 2027 Africa Regional Final, where they will face a stronger field in the race for places at the 2028 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
For Nigeria, qualification represents an important milestone, with the team hoping to build on its impressive home performances as preparations begin for the next stage of the global qualifying series.
