The prestigious event is sponsored by Shoreline Energy International, alongside notable partners including Bluechip Technologies, IHS Towers, MTN, Macadams, Lead City University/Microfinance Bank, Red Couch Limited, Alina Group, and 7Up, among others.
At a press conference held at the Ibadan Polo Club Ground, Eleyele Road, the Tournament Chairman, Abimbola Adeyemi, announced that a record 18 teams — 10 visiting teams and 8 home teams — will compete for several major and subsidiary trophies, including the Ade Alakija Memorial Cup, Rotimi Cup (+3 to +7 goal category), and the Shoreline Cup.
“This year’s edition promises to be exciting,” said Adeyemi. “We chose June hoping for good weather. Every match will be a hit. Sponsorship is strong, and things are looking better both on and off the field.”
He noted that the Ibadan Cup remains “unfinished business,” referencing last year’s withdrawal of a team and promising a thrilling showdown this time around.
“We have new entrants from Port Harcourt, Katsina, Lagos, and Ibadan, and it will be seven days of excitement,” he added.
Adeyemi assured the public of maximum security and standard medical support, including three well-equipped ambulances stationed throughout the tournament.
He also commended Shoreline Energy International for its consistent sponsorship and support in promoting the sport in Oyo State.
Meanwhile, Fela Yomi-Layinka, the club’s Entertainment Secretary, said the tournament will feature premium entertainment daily, including live bands, DJs, karaoke, and other sessions to engage spectators throughout the week-long event.
