Nigeria’s Kenneth Boniface Named MVP of U19 World Cup Qualifier

Nigeria’s Kenneth Boniface has been named the Most Valuable Player of the U19 ICC World Cup Qualifier after producing an outstanding all-round campaign. His performances with both bat and ball helped establish him as one of Nigeria’s standout players in the competition.

Boniface finished the tournament with 251 runs at an average of 125.5. He also recorded a strike rate of 109.61, underlining his ability to combine consistency with aggressive batting.

The Nigerian youngster was equally influential with the ball. He claimed 10 wickets during the tournament and maintained an economy rate of 4.04, completing an impressive contribution across both major disciplines.

His all-round ability has been evident in previous youth competitions. In an earlier Nigeria Cricket Federation U17 championship, Boniface was also named MVP after scoring 33 runs and taking 12 wickets, showing that his development has been built on contributions in both departments.

Boniface was part of Nigeria’s squad for the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Africa Qualifier hosted in Lagos. The tournament brought together six teams, with Nigeria, Kenya, Namibia, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Uganda competing for the African qualification place.

He also produced important contributions during Nigeria’s matches. Against Sierra Leone, Boniface remained unbeaten on 63 from 84 balls as Nigeria posted 273 for nine in their 50 overs before bowling their opponents out for 156.

The recognition further highlights the progress of Nigeria’s emerging cricket talent. Boniface’s ability to influence matches with the bat and ball gives the national setup an important player for future international assignments.

Nigeria Cricket Federation officials have continued to invest in youth development as the country seeks to strengthen its position in African cricket. The federation has also hosted major international youth competitions, providing young players with valuable exposure against teams from across the continent.

Boniface’s MVP award is therefore another notable milestone in his developing career. His latest performance provides further evidence of the talent emerging from Nigeria’s youth cricket system.
