Nigeria One Win Away from U-18 African Volleyball Title After Crushing Cameroon

Nigeria's boys' team moved to within one victory of continental glory after defeating Cameroon 3-0 to qualify for the final of the 2026 CAVB U-18 African Nations Volleyball Championship in Alexandria, Egypt.

The Nigerian side continued its impressive unbeaten campaign with another dominant display, overpowering Cameroon 25-16, 25-20, 25-19 in Tuesday's semi-final to secure a deserved place in the championship match.

The victory extended Nigeria's flawless run to five consecutive wins, with the team conceding just one set throughout the tournament.

Nigeria had earlier topped Group A after opening the competition with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Morocco before recording a hard-fought 3-1 win against hosts Egypt.

The team completed the group phase with another straight-sets success over Burundi to finish as group leaders.

In the quarter-finals, Nigeria maintained its momentum by brushing aside Libya 3-0 to book a last-four clash against Cameroon.

Against the Central Africans, the Nigerian youngsters once again demonstrated their superiority with disciplined defence, powerful attacking play, and excellent service, leaving their opponents with little opportunity to mount a comeback.

The latest victory further underlined Nigeria's credentials as one of the tournament favourites and reflected the quality of talent emerging from the country's youth volleyball development programme.

With four of their five victories achieved in straight sets, the Nigerians will now shift their focus to the final, where they will aim to complete an unbeaten campaign and claim the 2026 CAVB U-18 African Nations Volleyball Championship title.

A victory in the final would crown an outstanding tournament for the Nigerian boys, who have consistently displayed quality, resilience, and teamwork throughout the competition. Their performances have also highlighted the country's growing strength in youth volleyball on the African stage.
