Posted : 04 March 2026

Nigeria Customs Service Volleyball Team and Vipers Volleyball Club have recorded impressive victories at the ongoing CAVB Zone 3 Volleyball Club Championship in Accra, Ghana.

In the women’s category, Nigeria Customs Service defeated Ghana Immigration Volleyball Club 3-1 (22-25, 25-18, 25-13, 25-20) in their opening match.

The reigning CGC Volleyball Premier League champions also secured a commanding 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-8) victory over AS Douanes VC of Burkina Faso.

Similarly, the 2025 National Division One champions, Vipers VC, outclassed Dynamic VC 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-20).

They followed up with another 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-20) triumph against Sonabel VC.

In the men’s event, Nigeria Customs Service extended their winning streak with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-17) win over All Stars VC.

The Team Manager of Vipers VC, Jabar Abiodun, commended the players for their impressive performance in their first two matches, assuring that the team would sustain the momentum in pursuit of the trophy.

Also speaking, Vipers captain, Esther Mbah, lauded the club’s management for facilitating the team’s participation at the championship.

“I want to thank the management of Vipers VC for ensuring we attend this championship.

“The tournament will help the squad make a significant impact in the upcoming 2026 CGC Volleyball Premier League,” she said.

The Sports Director of Nigeria Customs Service, Samuel Onikeku, expressed satisfaction with the performance of the country’s representatives at the championship.

He attributed the victories to the support and investment of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and the service’s management.

“I commend the players, coaches, and the entire crew for their performance at the ongoing Zone 3 CAVB Club Championship.

“The victories are a result of the continuous investment and motivation provided by the CGC and his management before, during, and after tournaments.

“Our objective is to return home with the trophy, just as we did in Ghana during the 2025 Super Cup,” he said.

Three teams are representing Nigeria at the championship — Nigeria Customs Service male and female teams, and Vipers VC.

The championship, which began on March 1, will conclude on March 10 in Accra, Ghana.
