Nigeria Confirms Teams for NFL Flag Africa Continental Championship

The Nigerian Federation of American Football (NFAF) has officially confirmed its readiness for a major international assignment. Three separate national squads will represent the West African nation at the upcoming 2026 NFL Flag Africa Continental Championship. The highly anticipated tournament is scheduled to take place in Nairobi, Kenya, from July 9 to July 11.

This high-profile sports competition marks the third edition of the prestigious continental flag football showpiece. Nigeria successfully hosted the inaugural tournament in 2024; Egypt staged the second edition in 2025. The annual event continues to grow as a vital operational milestone for American football development on the African continent.

For the first time in the tournament's history, senior men's and women's national teams will feature in the main division. Five prominent African nations will battle for continental supremacy: Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Egypt, and South Africa. A co-educational Under-13 tournament will also run simultaneously; each youth squad will consist of ten highly talented players.

The NFAF executive board voiced strong confidence regarding the tactical readiness of the entire Nigerian delegation. An official federation spokesperson noted that local players and coaches have worked tirelessly during intense residential training camps. The elite sports showpiece is organized in direct corporate partnership with the National Football League (NFL).
