Nigeria Complete Perfect Zone 3 Campaign, Sweep Burkina Faso to Finish Unbeaten

Nigeria's men's volleyball team concluded its Zone 3 Qualifiers campaign in impressive fashion, defeating Burkina Faso in straight sets to maintain a perfect record at the tournament in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

The Nigerian side secured a 3-0 victory over Burkina Faso, winning 25-17, 25-23, and 25-22 to claim their fifth consecutive victory in the competition.

The triumph capped a remarkable campaign in which Nigeria also defeated Niger Republic, hosts Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, and Benin Republic to finish the qualifiers unbeaten.

The team conceded only three sets throughout the tournament, highlighting their consistency, resilience, and dominance against all opponents.

Nigeria's flawless performance earned them one of the qualification spots for the 2026 African Nations Cup, scheduled to take place in September in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The continental tournament will feature Africa's leading volleyball nations, with teams competing for the championship title as well as qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games.

The impressive display in Abidjan further strengthens Nigeria's growing reputation in African men's volleyball and provides valuable momentum ahead of the Nations Cup, where the team will aim to compete for continental honours and secure an Olympic qualification place.
