NFF Names 20 Sand Eagles Players for Ghana Beach Soccer Qualifier

Posted : 28 September 2026

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has intensified preparations for the Sand Eagles ahead of their CAF Beach Soccer Championship qualifying tie against Ghana’s Black Sharks. The Nigerian team is currently camping in Kaduna as it prepares for the two-leg encounter.

The Sand Eagles have spent the past week undergoing technical and tactical training at the Murtala Muhammed Square Sports Complex in Kaduna. Coach Christopher Kadiri is overseeing the sessions, with head coach Abdullahi Isa currently away with the Golden Eaglets ahead of the WAFU-B U-17 Championship in Ouagadougou.

Nigeria will host Ghana in the first leg in Kaduna on Saturday, October 10. The return leg is scheduled for Accra on Saturday, October 17, with the winner securing a place at the CAF Beach Soccer AFCON finals in Senegal.

The NFF is also seeking additional preparation through friendly matches. The federation has approached the Senegalese Football Federation about arranging two warm-up games against the African beach soccer champions before the Ghana tie.

Nigeria returned to international beach soccer competition two years ago after an extended absence. The Sand Eagles were eliminated by Mauritania in the qualifying series for the CAF Beach Soccer AFCON hosted by Seychelles after the tie was decided on the away-goal rule.

The current squad features 20 players drawn from clubs across the country. The goalkeepers are Godwin Tale and Olalekan Oladipo of Kada BSC, alongside Nuhu Noma Aiki of Kebbi BSC.

The defensive group includes Victor Tale of Kada BSC, Taiwo Adams and Emmanuel Ohwoferia of Kebbi BSC, Clement Eganosi and Chinweze Gabriel of Anambra BSC, and Effiong Eyo of Ibom BSC.

The forwards are Dozie Frank and Tanko Emmanuel of Kada BSC; Stanley Ekwe of Anambra BSC; Ekene Obi, Sadiq Umar, Hassan Abdullahi and Hamza Isa of Kebbi BSC; Hassan Abubakar of Niger BSC; Kazeem Oyewunmi of Igbogbo BSC; Godspower Igudia of Edo BSC; and Hamza Bagudu of Jigawa BSC.

The Ghana fixture gives Nigeria another opportunity to return to the continental beach soccer finals. The Sand Eagles will need a strong result in Kaduna before travelling to Accra for the decisive second leg.
