Estiaan Conradie has made an impressive start to the Blu Label Unlimited Challenge, sharing the first-round lead just a month after getting married. The South African golfer scored 17 points at the Lost City Golf Course to sit alongside compatriot Tyran Snyders at the top of the leaderboard.
Both players hold a two-point advantage over England’s Joe Sullivan, who finished the opening round with 15 points under the tournament’s modified Stableford scoring system. Conradie was the first to complete his round on Wednesday and expressed satisfaction with his performance.
The golfer said he was pleased to begin the tournament with 17 points, describing it as an encouraging position from which to build. Despite recording a bogey on a par-five hole, he recovered quickly and created several birdie opportunities, converting many of them through effective putting.
Conradie also welcomed the tournament’s distinctive scoring format, which rewards an attacking style of play. He explained that being aggressive and creating as many birdie chances as possible would be crucial to collecting points throughout the competition.
Snyders later joined Conradie at the top of the standings after producing a strong round that included an eagle on the fourth hole.
Ricky Hendler also enjoyed a positive start, collecting 12 points. Having finished runner-up in the 2024 edition, Hendler said he enjoys returning to Sun City and appreciates how the format encourages players to take more risks and play with greater freedom.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwean golfer Stuart Krog continued the Sunshine Tour’s recent run of holes-in-one by acing the par-three 15th. His achievement earned him 100,000 SkyBucks courtesy of Fly Airlink and secured a place in the Airlink Aces Shoot-Out at the end of the season.
