Nelly Korda Focused on Present as She Chases Third Consecutive Major Title

Posted : 25 June 2026

Nelly Korda heads into this week’s Women’s PGA Championship with the opportunity to achieve a rare golfing milestone, but the world No. 1 insists her attention is firmly on the present rather than the history books.

The American star arrives at Hazeltine Golf Club in Minnesota seeking a third consecutive major championship victory after claiming titles at both the Chevron Championship and the U.S. Women’s Open earlier this season. Should she succeed, Korda would become only the third woman to win three straight majors in a single year.

Despite the significance of the achievement, Korda says she is determined to maintain a simple mindset and concentrate on playing her best golf. She explained that her approach throughout the season has been centered on staying focused on each moment rather than becoming distracted by long-term goals or records.

Korda has enjoyed an exceptional campaign, collecting four victories and recording eight top-three finishes in her last nine tournaments. Her dominant form has made her one of the overwhelming favorites heading into the championship.

Another milestone is also within reach. The 27-year-old needs only a few more qualifying points to secure induction into the LPGA Hall of Fame. However, Korda revealed that she has intentionally avoided calculating exactly what is required, preferring not to add extra pressure to an already demanding sport.

After a winless 2025 season following a remarkable seven-win campaign in 2024, Korda has returned to the spotlight with renewed confidence. She recently celebrated her U.S. Women’s Open triumph with a series of media appearances and promotional events, experiences she says she now enjoys more than in previous years.

Korda believes embracing her authentic personality has helped her feel more comfortable with the increased attention. She also views opportunities to promote women’s golf as a positive way to help the sport reach a wider audience.

While off-course commitments have increased, her primary focus remains on the challenge awaiting her at Hazeltine. Korda expects the demanding layout to test every aspect of her game, particularly accuracy from the tee and precision on approach shots.

The field is packed with elite talent. Defending champion Minjee Lee returns after winning the tournament last year, while fellow Australian Hannah Green has fond memories of Hazeltine, having captured the title there in 2019.

World No. 2 Jeeno Thitikul of Thailand will also be among the leading contenders. Although she is still searching for her first major championship victory, Thitikul remains patient and confident that her breakthrough moment will eventually arrive.

As the Women’s PGA Championship begins, Korda’s focus remains unchanged: trust her preparation, stay present, and let the results take care of themselves.
