NCS Strengthens Leadership with Jaiyeola's Appointment Ahead of CGC Volleyball League Finale

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reinforced the leadership structure of its men's volleyball team with the appointment of Abdulquadri Jaiyeola as alternate captain ahead of the second phase of the 2026 Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Volleyball Premier League.

The appointment was announced by the Head of Sports, Samuel Onikeku, who described Jaiyeola as an experienced leader capable of inspiring the team during the crucial stage of the competition.

Onikeku noted that Jaiyeola recently captained Nigeria's senior men's volleyball team to qualification for the African Nations Championship qualifiers in Abidjan, highlighting his leadership qualities at both national and club levels.

He also recalled that the player represented the Nigeria Customs Service at the 2021 African Men's Club Championship in Tunisia during a brief stint with the team.

Despite the latest appointment, Philip Akande will remain captain of the side, while Chris Udah and Princewill Okoi will continue as first and second assistant captains, respectively.

Onikeku praised the players for their impressive performances during the opening phase of the league and urged them to maintain their discipline and determination as the competition enters its decisive stage.

According to him, the team must continue to build on its strong start through hard work, unity and consistency to achieve its objectives in the race for the league title.

The second phase of the 2026 CGC Volleyball Premier League is expected to determine the eventual champions as teams intensify their battle for top honours.

The appointment of Jaiyeola further strengthens the team's leadership as the Nigeria Customs Service aims to sustain its impressive campaign and compete strongly for the 2026 CGC Volleyball Premier League title.
