NCF Names 16-Man YellowGreens Squad for Namibia T20 and 50-Over Tri-Series

Posted : 16 June 2026

The Nigeria Cricket Federation has officially announced a 16-man senior men's squad for the upcoming international tour of Namibia. The national team, popularly known as the YellowGreens, will test their skills in a highly competitive Tri-Series environment. This tournament features challenging white-ball matches against the host nation Namibia alongside a formidable Hong Kong China side.

According to an official statement by the federation's media manager, Zeal Ibe, the delegation has departed the country. The international tour is scheduled to run from June 18 through June 29 across both shorter formats. The team will play multiple high-intensity T20 fixtures and 50-over matches during their stay in Windhoek.

The headline news from the squad selection is the return of stars Chima Akachukwu and Miracle Akhigbe. Both experienced players have earned recalls to the national team camp after a lengthy period away from international cricket. Their inclusion adds significant depth and tactical options to a team that balances youth with veteran leadership.

Dynamic opening batter Sulaimon Runsewe retains his position as the team captain to lead this new look roster. The upcoming fixtures will provide a stern test of tactical adaptability, defensive resilience, and physical endurance. The federation views this competitive tour as a crucial building block to boost Nigeria's current standing in world cricket.

Coaches Leke Oyede and Tamuno John will initially oversee match day operations and morning training sessions. They will lead the coaching department on the ground during the crucial opening phase of the white-ball series. This allows the senior assistant coaches to monitor initial player combinations against high quality opposition.

The newly appointed Head Coach and High Performance Manager, Stephen Mangongo, will join the touring camp later. His arrival marks a deliberate structural step by the board to refine the long term development pathways. He will work alongside an elite backroom unit consisting of analyst Jamal Okechukwu and fitness trainer Seye Olympio.
