NBSL Round Two Review: Kebbi Fishers Maintain Perfect Run as Anambra Survive Shootout Scare

The race for places in the Super Four intensified on Saturday as Kebbi Fishers BSC continued their impressive surge in the 2026 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) Round Two, while defending champions Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors demonstrated their resilience in a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Jigawa Golden Stars BSC.

Kebbi Fishers emerged as the biggest winners of the day, recording two emphatic victories to underline their credentials as serious title contenders.

In one of the most entertaining matches of the round, the Fishers overwhelmed Niger BSC 10-5 in a goal-filled encounter. Taiwo Adams spearheaded the attacking masterclass with four goals, while Hassan Abdullahi added a hat-trick. Umar Sadiqee and Badmus Fuad also found the net, with an own goal by Jamilu Haruna further compounding Niger's woes.

Despite ending on the losing side, Niger BSC's Hassan Abubakar stole some of the spotlight with a remarkable five-goal haul, earning the Man of the Match award for his outstanding individual effort.

The defending champions were made to work much harder in Match Five as Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors battled back to edge Jigawa Golden Stars BSC 4-2 on penalties after an enthralling 3-3 draw that stretched into extra time.

Jigawa looked poised for a famous victory thanks to a brace from Hamza Bagudu and another strike from Rabiu Ali. However, Chizoba Iwumune produced a captain's performance for Anambra, netting a hat-trick to rescue his side and force the contest into a shootout.

The Warriors kept their composure from the spot, securing victory and preserving their hopes of reaching the Super Four. Iwumune's decisive contribution earned him the Man of the Match award.

Kebbi Fishers later returned to the sand to complete a perfect day, defeating Ibom BSC 7-4 in another entertaining contest.

Hamza Manga delivered a sensational four-goal performance to inspire the victory and claim the Man of the Match honour. Umar Sadiqee added two goals, while Badmus Fuad continued his productive outing with another strike.

Ibom BSC responded through Uwana Anietie, Uyime Friday, Abdullahi Aliyu, and Aliyu Aliyu, but they were unable to halt the relentless attacking force of the Fishers.

With two victories from two matches on the day, Kebbi Fishers have further strengthened their position among the leading contenders for Super Four qualification as the competition gathers momentum in Kaduna.

Round Two concludes on Sunday with three crucial fixtures: Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors against Niger BSC, Jigawa Golden Stars BSC versus Kebbi Fishers, and Kada BSC taking on Ibom BSC.

Attention will also be on the NBSL Youth Tournament, where Young Brazil FA and El-Cruzero will contest the third-place match, while Kaduna State University face Mustard Seed FA in the final.

The high-stakes matches in Kaduna have set the stage for a thrilling conclusion to Round Two. As the top teams continue to display exceptional technical skill and determination, the fight for Super Four qualification remains fiercely competitive.
