The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVF) has elected new board members to steer the federation’s affairs, with Engineer Musa Nimrod returning as President for another four-year term.
The elections, held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, on Monday, produced Prince Babatunde Omisore as 1st Vice President and Architect Adamu Tenimu as 2nd Vice President.
Other board members include DCP Stephen Hasso (Rtd) representing the North East, Bolcit Amakiri for the North Central, Kingsley Nwosu for the South East, and Famous Daunemigha for the South South. Nimrod also serves as the North West representative, while Omisore represents the South West.
Dauda Saje was elected as the Players’ Representative, and Samuel Timothy secured the position of Technical Representative. Frank Onyeka will serve as the Sponsor Representative.
The new leadership is expected to consolidate the federation’s recent strides in developing volleyball across Nigeria.
Speaking after his re-election, Nimrod assured that the administration would introduce new initiatives to further elevate the sport’s profile in the country. He emphasized that the focus will be on athlete development across all categories, from U-15 to senior level, rather than dwelling on past achievements.
“With the elections now concluded, our focus is strictly on action. We await the formal inauguration by the National Sports Commission, after which the newly elected board will commence full operations,” Nimrod said.
He highlighted plans to strengthen major volleyball tours with support from experienced staff and mentors while attracting more sponsors to back the federation’s programs
.
Nimrod also outlined the federation’s packed calendar for the year, including the U-21 Volleyball Championship in Mexico, the U-18 World Championship in Qatar, the Senior World Volleyball Championship in Australia, the African Youth Games in Angola, and the World Schools Games in China.
“We are not dwelling on past achievements but rather on what lies ahead. Over the next four years, our focus will remain on athlete development. We already have structured pathways across categories from U-15, U-17, U-19, U-20, U-23 up to the senior level,” he added.
