Michael La Sasso Stuns Jon Rahm to Win LIV Golf Indianapolis

Rookie Michael La Sasso secured the biggest victory of his young career on Sunday, edging Jon Rahm by one stroke to win the LIV Golf Indianapolis season finale.

The 22-year-old HyFlyers player produced a composed final-round 65 to finish at 18-under par, becoming the youngest winner in LIV Golf history. La Sasso sealed the title with a superb chip on the par-five 18th that left him with a simple birdie putt.

Rahm mounted a serious challenge with a spectacular 63, the lowest round of the day, but a bogey on his final hole left him at 17-under and one shot behind. The Spaniard had already secured his third consecutive LIV individual season title before the tournament.

Bryson DeChambeau and Sergio Garcia shared third place at 16-under. DeChambeau said the uncertain future of LIV made it difficult to know what comes next, although he remained optimistic about the league's prospects.

The Indianapolis event brought an earlier-than-planned conclusion to the LIV season after the organization canceled its scheduled team championship in Michigan. The decision followed the Saudi Public Investment Fund's withdrawal of future investment and LIV's transition toward a new ownership and funding structure.

LIV has indicated that it intends to continue into 2027 with a new investment structure. The league's official website now says it has reached an agreement with a lead investor to fund its next era.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the competition, Rahm's Legion XIII ended the campaign on top again, successfully defending its team championship. Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton, Caleb Surratt and Tom McKibbin finished six shots ahead of La Sasso's HyFlyers.

La Sasso's breakthrough provided the standout individual moment of the finale. After entering the season as a rookie, he finished his campaign with his first professional victory and a place in LIV history.
