Rising American golfer Michael La Sasso will make his debut at the 10th anniversary edition of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, scheduled for December 10–13 at Mont Choisy Le Golf in Mauritius. He will join fellow young talents Casey Jarvis and defending champion Jayden Schaper in a field featuring players from the Sunshine Tour and DP World Tour.
La Sasso, 22, arrives in Mauritius after making an impressive start to his professional career. He became the youngest winner in LIV Golf history when he captured the season-ending LIV Golf Indianapolis, producing a second-round 60 before holding off stars including Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau and Sergio Garcia.
The American said his early success has given him confidence but stressed that he believes his career is only beginning. He is targeting more victories, a rise up the world rankings and eventually a chance to compete for major championships.
La Sasso also sees the Mauritius Open as an opportunity to gain more international experience against strong opposition. He said playing on different courses and adapting to different styles of golf around the world has helped him become a more complete player.
The American will be aiming to become only the second player from the United States to win the co-sanctioned event, following Kurt Kitayama's 2018 triumph. Ryan Gerard came close in 2025, finishing runner-up to South Africa's Jayden Schaper after a playoff.
