Marcus Kinhult Leads Alfred Dunhill Championship Ahead of Final Round

Posted : 14 December 2024

Sweden's Marcus Kinhult maintained his lead at the Alfred Dunhill Championship after a challenging third round, finishing with a solid 69 to hold a two-stroke advantage at 14 under par. Despite cooler temperatures compared to the previous days, Kinhult kept his composure and is now eyeing his second DP World Tour title at Leopard Creek.

Ryan van Velzen of South Africa put on an impressive performance, carding a 65 to move into second place at 12 under par. Darius van Driel from the Netherlands also stayed in contention with a 67, sitting at 11 under par as he heads into the final round.

Although conditions were cooler, many players struggled during the round. Charl Schwartzel's challenge faltered with a 74, including a difficult front nine of 42, leaving him at five under par overall. Dean Burmester, despite two double bogeys, fought hard to card a 70 and remained in the hunt at 10 under par.

Kinhult, who is aiming for his first win since 2019, feels confident heading into the final round. He believes Leopard Creek suits his game, noting that driving well and positioning himself off the tee will be key to success. Van Velzen, enjoying his first opportunity to contend for a DP World Tour title, is hitting his driver well and staying focused. Burmester, though four shots behind, remains optimistic, noting that anything can happen at Leopard Creek.
