Luke Brown Claims Second Sunshine Tour Title with Stunning Final-Round 64

Luke Brown produced a superb finish at Wingate Park Country Club on Friday to secure his second Sunshine Tour title, overcoming a four-shot deficit with a brilliant closing round of 64. The South African finished at 19-under-par overall, with six birdies and a decisive eagle on the par-five 15th giving him a two-shot victory.

Brown began the final round behind overnight leader Herman Loubser but gradually turned the tournament in his favour.

After a steady opening, he caught fire with six birdies across eight holes, including three in succession from the ninth, before the eagle at the 15th provided the crucial breakthrough. He completed his round without dropping a shot.

Defending champion Jonathan Broomhead and Ockie Strydom finished tied for second on 17 under after both carding rounds of 66.

Brown's victory ends a five-year wait for another Sunshine Tour title, with his previous success coming at the 2021 Blair Atholl Championship. Since then, he had recorded 11 further top-10 finishes without adding another trophy.

Brown said winning again was particularly meaningful because it confirmed to him that he could reproduce the success of his first title. The Sunshine Tour will now move to Ezulwini Golf and Country Club for the FNB Eswatini Challenge, scheduled for 13-15 August.
