Ludvig Aberg has identified Tyrrell Hatton as the most underrated player in professional golf during a recent interview with The Golfer’s Journal. The 26-year-old Swede, who is currently competing at the Valero Texas Open, chose to highlight a player no longer on the PGA Tour. Aberg noted that while Hatton now competes in the LIV Golf League, his technical skill remains among the very best in the world.
The two players shared a successful partnership during the European Ryder Cup victories at Marco Simone and more recently at Bethpage Black. Aberg’s endorsement follows similar praise from analysts like Rich Beem, who recently labeled Aberg himself as one of the premier ball-strikers on tour. However, the Swedish sensation was quick to pivot the spotlight toward Hatton’s consistent performances across multiple global tours.
Hatton joined the Saudi-backed LIV Golf circuit in January 2024 and has seen his game reach new heights despite the limited schedule. The 34-year-old Englishman currently holds the 31st spot in the Official World Golf Ranking. This ranking is particularly significant as LIV Golf events only began receiving accredited world ranking points at the start of the 2026 calendar year.
The Englishman’s resume includes one PGA Tour title at the 2020 Arnold Palmer Invitational and eight victories on the DP World Tour. He has also secured a win on the LIV circuit, proving his ability to adapt to the 54-hole format. Hatton’s Ryder Cup record is equally impressive, boasting eight wins and only four defeats across four appearances for Team Europe.
Aberg’s comments reflect a growing sentiment among top-tier players regarding the talent gap created by the current professional golf divide. Many fans and peers feel the absence of players like Hatton at regular PGA Tour events is a loss for the sport. Currently, the only opportunities to see these elite competitors face each other are during the four major championships.
As Aberg prepares for his appearance at The Masters next week, his form remains a focal point for golf enthusiasts. His swing is widely considered the envy of his peers, yet he maintains that Hatton’s game deserves more mainstream acclaim. The Swede’s vocal support for his former teammate highlights the enduring bonds formed within the European Ryder Cup setup.
