Lottie Woad Eyes LPGA Future with High Hopes at Evian Championship

Posted : 09 July 2025

Lottie Woad may not be competing for prize money this week, but her future as a professional golfer could be dramatically shaped by her performance at the Evian Championship. The 21-year-old English amateur arrives in France fresh off a stunning victory at the Women's Irish Open, where she overwhelmed a world-class field to claim a six-shot win. In doing so, she became the first amateur to win on the Ladies European Tour since 2022, finishing ahead of seasoned Solheim Cup stars Madelene Sagstrom and Charley Hull.

Sagstrom, who played alongside Woad in the final round, had high praise for the young golfer, predicting that Woad is set to "take European and American golf by storm very soon." Woad’s rapid rise in the amateur ranks, paired with her poise under pressure, signals a promising future in the sport.

Now, Woad has her sights set on the fourth women’s major of the year, the Evian Championship. With two top-25 finishes in majors already under her belt—including a 23rd-place finish at the 2024 Chevron Championship and a tie for 10th at the AIG Women’s Open—another strong showing this week could be pivotal. A top-25 finish in France would earn her the final two points she needs to qualify for LPGA Tour membership through the Elite Amateur Pathway.

According to Nigel Edwards, performance director at England Golf, Woad has always shown exceptional dedication to her craft. Identified as a standout talent at age 14, she’s built a reputation for her strong work ethic and willingness to adapt her game. “She knows what to practice to improve and never hesitates to make changes when needed,” Edwards said. “Her ability to drive the ball consistently gives her scoring opportunities and keeps her competitive at the highest level.”

With momentum on her side and a proven record on major stages, Woad enters the Evian Championship with both confidence and a clear goal: to prove once again that she belongs among the world’s elite and to take the next step toward a professional career.
