LIV Golf Secures Up to $300m Financing to Support 2027 Season

Posted : 06 October 2026

LIV Golf has secured an initial investment from BC Partners Credit as part of a financing package worth up to $300 million, providing a major boost to the league’s efforts to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy and prepare for the 2027 season. The funding remains subject to approval from the bankruptcy court.

The league entered Chapter 11 in September after Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund withdrew its multibillion-dollar backing, triggering a court-supervised restructuring process that LIV hopes to complete in early 2027.

The new financing is intended to strengthen the competition’s finances and support a proposed new model in which players would become equity owners of both the league and its teams.

LIV’s future player line-up remains uncertain, with discussions continuing over contracts, participation and the planned 2027 schedule. At least $45 million is owed to current and former players, including major stars such as Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau and Dustin Johnson, who are among the league’s listed unsecured creditors.

The proposed investment gives LIV additional momentum as it attempts to build what BC Partners describes as a more sustainable, player-focused league.

LIV chief executive Scott O’Neil said the agreement represents meaningful progress toward creating a team-oriented global competition with players sharing ownership.
