Lindberg, Elvira Share Genesis Championship Lead After Third Round

Mikael Lindberg and Nacho Elvira are tied for the lead at eight under after round three of the Genesis Championship.

Sweden’s Mikael Lindberg and Spain’s Nacho Elvira share the lead heading into the final round of the Genesis Championship after both players finished at eight under par on Saturday.

After eight players were tied at the top following Friday’s round, Lindberg surged ahead with a brilliant 67 — one of the lowest rounds of the day — to set the clubhouse target at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club. The Swede briefly held a two-shot lead before Elvira caught fire on the back nine, carding three birdies in four holes to join him at the top.

The pair now hold a two-stroke advantage over England’s Andy Sullivan and Alex Fitzpatrick, China’s Haotong Li, and Japan’s Yuto Katsuragawa. Five more players, including Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama, are within striking distance at five under.

Lindberg credited his strong recent form and composure for his performance, saying he plans to “keep things simple” heading into the final day. Meanwhile, Elvira described his round as a grind but praised his patience and short game after recovering from an early double bogey to finish with a composed 67.

Sullivan made a late charge with four consecutive birdies to move within two shots of the lead, while Katsuragawa carded a mixed round of four birdies and three bogeys. Li and Fitzpatrick also stayed in contention despite inconsistent front nines, setting up an exciting final-day showdown in South Korea.
