The 2025 Limpopo Championship is set to deliver another exciting week of golf when it tees off at the Euphoria Golf & Lifestyle Estate from October 9 to 12. With a prize fund of R2.5 million, the event will feature a competitive field that includes seasoned Sunshine Tour professionals and a new generation of rising talents.
Defending champion Deon Germishuys headlines a star-studded entry list, joined by two of the top three players on the Sunshine Tour’s Courier Guy Order of Merit and seven of this season’s Tour winners. Now in its seventh edition, the Limpopo Championship continues to strengthen its reputation as a premier sporting event that celebrates the region’s vibrant culture, wildlife, and tourism appeal.
Moses Ngobeni, CEO of the Limpopo Tourism Agency, emphasized the tournament’s impact on the local economy and community. Since making its debut in 2019, the Limpopo Championship has become one of the Sunshine Tour’s flagship events, producing champions who have gone on to achieve success on the DP World Tour, HotelPlanner Tour, and Sunshine Tour Order of Merit.
Defending champion Germishuys, who captured last year’s title with a record 22-under-par score, is expected to return after competing on the DP World Tour. He will aim to become only the second player in tournament history to defend his title, following JC Ritchie’s back-to-back wins in 2019 and 2020.
The event will also showcase the next generation of South African golf stars. Among them are Samuel Simpson, already a winner on the Tour this season, and Tyran Snyders, who has recorded three top-10 finishes to break into the top 20 of the Order of Merit. Both players will be eager to continue their strong form and make their mark at one of the Sunshine Tour’s most celebrated tournaments.
