Lights Spikers close in on perfect First Phase campaign

Lights Spikers Volleyball Club have intensified their push for promotion to the Premier League after maintaining their unbeaten run in the ongoing National Volleyball Division One League.

The club's Head Coach, Uthman Mohammed, expressed confidence in his team's ability to finish the first phase strongly, insisting that the players remain focused on securing victories in their remaining fixtures.

Speaking in Abuja, Mohammed said the team has approached every match with determination and discipline, a mindset that has helped them record seven consecutive victories in the competition.

According to the coach, Lights Spikers are determined to sustain their winning momentum in both phases of the league as they pursue their ultimate goal of gaining promotion to the top flight next season.

"We still have two matches to play against Kada Stars and Rhino. These are the matches we are focusing on now," Mohammed said.

"We are determined to win, although they will be tougher than today's game. Whatever happens, we believe we will get it right."

Lights Spikers currently sit atop the league standings with 21 points from seven matches, making them one of the standout teams in the championship.

The first phase of the league features 11 clubs, including Sword Spikers VC, Kwara VC, NAF Rockets VC, Adamawa VC, Wikki Spikers VC, Bayelsa Spikers VC, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kada Kings VC, Katsina VC, Rhino Spikers, and Lights Spikers VC.

The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) 2026 Phase One Division One National League, alongside the Division Two competition for both men's and women's categories, began on May 23 and will conclude on June 5 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

The impressive run by Lights Spikers positions them favorably as the first phase of the competition reaches its climax. With only two games remaining against tough opponents, maintaining their current tactical discipline will be crucial for the league leaders. The team remains deeply committed to delivering top-tier performances to cement their status and fulfill their promotion aspirations.
