Leon Visser Claims King’s Cup for Maiden Betway Big Easy Tour Title

Posted : 07 September 2026

Leon Visser secured his first Betway Big Easy Tour victory after closing with a one-under-par 71 to finish at 11-under and win the King’s Cup by two strokes at Ezulwini Golf and Country Club. The South Africa-born golfer, who was raised in Eswatini and developed his game at Ezulwini, led from the opening round through to the finish.

Visser began the tournament with rounds of 66 and 68 before facing tougher conditions in the final round. He relied heavily on his short game and putting, with a crucial par save on the ninth hole helping him maintain his belief and control as the pressure increased.

The 2026 champion also had to withstand a strong challenge from England’s Zachary Chegwidden, who was chasing his own first Big Easy Tour title. Visser remained focused on his own game and eventually completed the breakthrough victory, eight years after his previous professional win on the now-defunct IGT Tour.

The victory carried particular significance for Visser because Ezulwini was where his golfing journey began. He credited his grandfather with introducing him to the sport after he had initially played rugby, making his success at the venue especially meaningful.

The King’s Cup returned to the Betway Big Easy Tour schedule after a lengthy absence and carried the biggest prize fund of the campaign, with R700,000 on offer. The Betway Big Easy Tour serves as the Sunshine Tour’s development circuit and is supported by, among others, South African golfing legend Ernie Els.
