2025 President's Cup: LSC Drones Maintain Dominance at PANASA Premium Team Tournament a

Posted : 01 September 2025

Lekki Scrabble Club marked its first participation in a continental team championship when its LSC Drones competed at the Pan African Scrabble Association's 2nd President's Cup, “The Triumvirate Showdown,” held in Nairobi, Kenya, in August.

The team, consisting of Nsikak Nyam, Osikhena Ojior, and Nigerian champion George Ezinore, proved its mettle against a field of 29 other teams over the four-day tournament.

The all-Nigerian team showcased its strategic prowess, leading Pool E in the first phase after 15 rounds. This performance advanced them to Pool A, where all five group leaders were grouped for the final phase.

Ojior and Ezinore both scored 11-4, with +739 and +725 cumulative points respectively, topping the standings, while Nyam contributed a 9-6 record with +93 points.

LSC Drones continued to assert its dominance, fending off competitors as individual players accumulated crucial points in the challenging tournament, aptly named “Triumvirate Showdown.”

Ultimately, the team finished as first runner-up behind the winners, Blitzkrieg. Beyond this achievement, the club expanded its influence from the Lagos Peninsula to the African continent, earning recognition from players in The Gambia, Kenya, Cameroon, Ghana, and Uganda, while gaining global attention as a strong promoter of the mind game.

The impact of LSC Drones on one of Africa’s biggest Scrabble stages has enhanced the club’s reputation ahead of its flagship tournament, the Lekki Scrabble Classic, scheduled for September 27-28.

The Classic will again serve as a premier gathering for top players from Nigeria and beyond to test their skills, especially ahead of the 2025 World English Scrabble Players Association Championship (WESPAC) in November in Accra, Ghana. Last year, the tournament saw strong attendance, with Ghana’s Charles Tachie-Menson claiming the top prize.
