Lagos Ready to Host 4th Prime Atlantic Squash Tournament

Posted : 05 June 2025

Tomi Falase, Chairman of the Lagos State Squash Association (LSSA), has announced that all is set for the 4th edition of the Prime Atlantic Squash Tournament in Lagos.

Falase described the competition as a defining moment for squash development in Nigeria and expressed excitement over the performance of Lagos athletes, who dominated the squash event at the recently concluded National Sports Festival (NSF) in Ogun State.

“I’m excited to announce to the general public that the 4th edition of the Prime Atlantic Squash Tournament will be held from June 9 to 14 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos,” he said.

Falase noted that the NSF served as a strong build-up to the tournament, with Lagos athletes remaining in peak competitive form.

“This tournament is timely. Our players are still in competition shape from the NSF. We aim to build on our success and, more importantly, raise the overall standard of squash in Nigeria by showcasing and testing our best talents,” he added.

He praised the continued support of the tournament’s sponsors and emphasized that the event remains a vital platform for talent discovery and grassroots development.

“We're not just focused on elite players; we’ve created space for young squash players to gain experience and exposure. That’s how we develop a sustainable pipeline for the sport,” he said.

With preparations in top gear and anticipation running high, the competition promises a mix of elite play, technical brilliance, and youthful energy.

“For Lagos, it’s a chance to solidify dominance. For others, it’s an opportunity to make a bold statement on the national stage,” Falase concluded.

The Prime Atlantic Squash Tournament is widely regarded as Nigeria’s top squash competition, drawing top-ranked players, emerging talents, and scouts from across the country.

This year’s edition holds extra significance, coming just weeks after Lagos' impressive showing at the NSF. Junior players from around Nigeria will also receive wildcard entries into the early rounds, making it a key developmental platform.
